Available outside of Japan for the first time in 36 years. Without question one of our favourite albums of all time, very little is known of Down On The Road’s unfathomable genesis. A budding musician who established himself as a fashion photographer, Hiett flew to Tokyo on the understanding that he was checking proofs for a book, only to be surprised by a CBS/Sony recording contract, studio time and a band of session musicians known as Moonriders. Boiled under pressure, their transportive audio portraits amplify his serpentine guitar and zero gravity blues to the infinite blue, floating in a space between The Durutti Column, Steve Cropper and Ashra.
